When you are trying to live green it can be a difficult task for many people. However,
if you know about some of the things that you can do you can easily make your home into
a Green Home. After you know about some of those things that you can do it will be easy
to see how simple this little task can be to accomplish. Then you can feel better about
your home and the fact that you are doing all that you can to help save the environment.
Remember that living a green life does not have to be expensive either because some of
these little bits of advice that are provided here are something that you can do without
having to spend any money or very little money.

One thing that you can do is look at all the items that you have plugged into your
outlets at any given point in time. Doing this could allow you to find out that some
of the items that are plugged in do not really need to be plugged in all the time. For
example, one item that many peopleleave plugged in all the time for the clock is the
microwave, but if you look aroundyour kitchen the chances are the stove has a clock. So,
you could easily unplug the microwave and that would help save power from the silent draw
that it is pulling outof your power system. However, you just need to have it positioned
in a location that you can easily reach the plug to do this job on, but the savings that
you have eachmonth on your electric bill will be quite a bit. The savings can be even
higher if you do this with the other items in your home.

Another thing that can be done is to eat more of the locally grown foods. Now you may
not be able to do this year round, but if you use proper storing techniques it is
possible for your food to last you an extended period of time. However, during the
summer if you are able to purchase only locally grown and in season foods you will be
reducing the delivery time and costs of the items. Since they will not be driven all the
way across the country you will see that less pollution will be put into the air by the
diesel fuel from the trucks or other items that are being used to transport the produce
from one portion of the country to the other.

Something else that you may want to consider doing would be to turn the thermostat down
during the winter and up during the summer. This little step while it may make it a little
bit warmer or cooler inside of your home will help reduce your dependence on the electric
company or other fuel sources. However, if you are going to run the air conditioner or heater
at a more reasonable temperature you will want to make sure that you do this early in the
morning for the air conditioner. Doing this during the early morning is going to be a great
way to cool your home off quickly before the heat of the day hits, but also when the power
grid is not at a high demand.

At times you may want to consider having your own garden. Now you may realize that the plants
are beneficial for you, but what you may not realize is that the plants will also help remove
some of the excess Carbon Dioxide from the planet. Since it is going to do that you will see
that in the indoors the air that you are breathing in will be cleaner, but the air outdoors
around your plants will still have that same crispness of fresh air.

You may want to consider combining your trips when you are traveling out. Doing this will help
you conserve gasoline which can be a wonderful thing to do, but you will want to do this as
well to reduce your carbon footprint. This can be a two fold benefit as well because if you
are combining your trips the chances are that you will not purchase as much on items that you
really do not need to have nor want to have.

Purchasing energy star compliant appliances can be a wonderful thing to do as well. However,
this will end up costing you more money than what you are thinking, but in the long run these
newer appliances will last you for a longer time period while saving you money at the same time.

Being able to live green can be a challenge for many people. However, if you know about some of
the things that you can do to make your place into a Green Home you can see that it really is
not that hard to do. Then you will see that living green can actually help you in saving money
on a monthly basis.
