Solar Energy Is Leading A Huge Change In The Global Energy Market

If looking at reasons why solar energy is leading a huge change in the global energy market,
it is possibly because it has to do mostly with the problems of pollution and the cost to
the world of generating energy under systems which have been used for quite some time.

Solar Energy is a clean source of electrical energy with very few problem of pollution, apart
from the actual setting up of a project, the maintenance and the dismantling, where one of
these systems may have to be removed for one reason or another. Sunlight is also free and the
only drawback is the initial cost of setting the solar harvesting project up.

It is clean energy which is harvested from sunlight using solar panel technology. One of the
only drawbacks with this kind of electricity generation is that it needs sunlight and on cloudy
days and at night time the power production is minimal. Research is however working on some of
these problems, and as it is with all things that are found to be causing problems, someone with
a bit more genius than others finds a way around it.

Many countries are now embracing solar power as a cheaper, cleaner source of electricity. Coal
fired power plants can produce various amounts of pollution, this does not happen just at the
electricity generating site but all the way down the line. The initial work to remove coal from
the ground produces all sorts of pollution, from damage to the environment which is high with the
open cut type and subsidence which sometimes happens when it is long wall mined. The amount of
vehicles used to remove and transport the coal is very large, as is the use of fuel getting it to
its destination on the huge coal ships.

Nuclear powered electricity plants are a relatively clean way of producing electricity, however they
have a problem with the spent nuclear rods and finding a permanent place to store them. These spent
rods are capable of giving off the most radiation of all nuclear waste, and finding a permanent
storage is the biggest problem facing this type of electricity generation.

Another method of electricity generation is a hydro electric scheme, but this requires a very large
storage dam where water can run through turbines to produce the generating effect. The negative
effect is the flooding of huge areas of land and finding a suitable place to put the wall of the dam.
This is however another clean method of electricity production although initially quite expensive.
Wind power is also another method of production which is fairly new, but this has a habit of
creating ugly eyesores on the landscape and spoiling otherwise beautiful areas with its towering
wind turbines. It is a reasonably efficient method but does not at present, produce massive amounts
of power. Solar energy is at the present time the most forward looking way of producing electrical
power which is done in an efficient, clean and environmentally friendly way.
