Moon Landing: Moon Landing History
The Moon landing is probably the greatest achievement of mankind
to date, it is obviously that one day far in the future that there
will be greater achievements than the Moon landing but it has been
four decades since the Moon landing and no one has topped it yet.
Sadly there are plenty of idiots who seem to think that the Moon
landing was some sort of stunt filmed in the desert, what a shame
there are people who would spread these idiotic facts and worse
what a disaster for the human race that there are people who
believe them.

The Moon landing was the culmination of a race to get into and
then dominate the space above our home planet Earth and that race
was between the two superpowers America and the USSR of the time.

It all started in the early sixties when various animals were
given one way (unfortunately) tickets into space, which allowed
a number of Dogs, several Monkeys and even one French cat to be
blasted into space and out of the Earth’s atmosphere.

The race to achieve a Moon landing didn’t really start until humans
both men and thanks to the Russians several woman had been into space,
orbited the planet and even got out of their spacecraft to enjoy the
view and probably to do some experiments as well.

The only rockets that to date have ever been capable of send humans
to the Moon for a Moon landing are the enormously powerful and
gigantic American Apollo rockets.

The Moon landing was planned to the tiniest detail and a total of
eleven rockets were fired at the Moon culminating in Apollo 11 which
landed two men Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong on the surface of the
moon and after their historic Moon landing bring them back to
earth safely.

But before the first humans sat in an Apollo rocket there were a large
number of test flights that didn’t carry any crew at all.

Various Apollo rockets achieved milestones for the Apollo programme
and of course some for mankind. Apollo rockets 7 and 9 were responsible
for experiments that were carried out in Earth orbit, Apollo 7 was the
first manned Apollo rocket, from Apollo 7 onwards all flights were manned.

The first Apollo rocket to achieve Lunar Orbit was Apollo 8 and that
was followed soon after by Apollo 10. The first Apollo rocket to
successfully to make a Moon landing was Apollo 11, after Apollo 11 five
other Apollo rockets took men to their Moon landing. They were
Apollo 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17.

Famously Apollo 13 has serious technical problems, an explosion, a fire
and the malfunction of the equipment that made the air the Astronauts
breathed malfunction was unable to carry out its original mission and
captivated onlookers around the world as the crew fought to get their
very badly damaged spacecraft home.

The history of the Moon landing is unique among the achievements of
nations around the world one of enormous effort, cost and bravery and
something that America is rightly proud and of course has inspired a
lot of people around the world to try and reach out to the stars.
